First Impression: Artist Brush Dupe!?

I bought an oval brush at shopee (an online shopping app) hoping that this would be a dupe for the infamous artist brush. This is an oval brush from Maange.

I was drawn to this one because this only cost me 120 php (let’s be real) which is pretty cheap and it looks like the oval brush I have seen a lot on youtube and instagram. (BTW this is not dirty. This is how it actually looks like clean. My sister said it was dirty when she saw the picture so thought I’d put it out there. Lol)

I used this as soon as I got it from the mail since I was going out that day anyway.

I will list all the pros and cons of this brush to make my first impression clear.

PROS

  • The brush is so soft.
  • I bought it for a cheap price.
  • It is densely packed so the bristles of the brush will not shed. (That’s what I think.)
  • The handle is pretty flexible so it glides with what motion you do while blending a foundation/bb cream.
  • Small and handy.
  • Easy to use.

CONS

  • It applies foundation pretty streaky.
  • Because the brush is so dense it felt so stiff on my face and felt like it’s tugging my skin which might cause wrinkles.
  • Somehow I applied my foundation/bb cream longer than when I use a sponge.
  • It soaks up a lot of product on the bristles so I tend to use more product on my face.

I think that’s about it. So my first impression is that this brush definitely is NOT a dupe for the artist brush! I may have not used the real oval brush but I think it is so much better than this one, I mean it’s pretty pricey so it better be! 🙂

Oh yeah! I also used this brush for cream contouring. It did blend out the cream pretty fast but again it felt like it’s tugging my face so for me I’d rather use my sponge for blending than this one.

Hope you like my first impression!

Have you tried using the artist brushes? Or something like it? I would like to know on the comments below.

-’til next time!-
