Restaurant Review: Kuya J

It has been a month since we ate here. I had been busy with my new work and events of my life that I forgot to post this. Sorry! :p

Anyway, Kuya J restaurant is owned by Jericho Rosales, an actor here in the Philippines. It opened a few months ago already but last month was the first time that my boyfriend and I tried their food. It was his birthday so he treated me there.

These are what we ordered from the first visit.

Garlic Rice. There’s nothing special to it but it was so delicious that I had to eat a lot of it though I was dieting! 🙁 This is good for 3-4 persons.  Rate: 4/5
Kuya J fruit shake special. I don’t know if there’s something special about it. It taste just like a regular four season shake. I like that they put it in a mason jar though ’cause many restaurants would put their drinks in a regular glass. It’s a first for me. Rate: 3/5 (Just because I prefer green mango shake from this.)
Crispy Shrimp. This was good and we ate all of it even the skin! Lol. This is just like any other breaded shrimp though. Rate: 4/5
Adobo sa Mangga. We tried this just because we were curious on how a mango would go with “Adobo” but unfortunately it didn’t blow my mind. The preparation was good but I don’t think this is better than the regular adobo. Rate: 3/5

We haven’t tried a lot of food there but here are the foods we ordered on the second visit.

Stuffed Grilled Squid with Barbecue sauce. This I love! No complains on it. I love the sauce and I love how this is so stuffed with ingredients like garlic, onion and tomato. Rate: 5/5
Crispy Dinuguan. One food that I always order from restaurants is Dinuguan. I can say that the sauce in this is a bit thick. If you are not familiar with dinuguan, the sauce is actually the blood of a pig so because it was thick it made me think that I was eating blood. Not to make you throw up or what. Lol. The best one I tried was in Ineng’s. Rate: 2/5
Sinigang na baboy. The soup was so good. I love it but the pork is a bit undercooked? I mean, it’s a bit hard to chew. This is 3/5 for me.

I don’t like to sound negative or what but those are my honest opinion on the foods I have tried. I don’t think many people like to read everything you write on blogs but a summary is much more helpful so here it is:

Place: It has a very nice ambiance. So neat, elegant, and feels so comfortable.

Staff: The only thing I want from their staffs are to be more accommodating or smile more often. Some staffs are slow too.

Food: They don’t have foods that I cannot eat. They offer a lot of new recipes but nothing that blew my mind and would want to go back. I did go back to their restaurant to try their other recipes so that I can make a good review about it.

Menu: I like that they have a lot to offer.

Price: The highest food they have cost around 390php and that is their Kuya J whole fried chicken. They have a lot of affordable food and that’s what I like about the restaurant considering they have a great interior.

Overall: I would recommend other restaurants but this is ok if you want to try their food. I would rate this 3.5/5 because I love the vibe of the place. 🙂
