Hey!
I ordered last month some lip stuffs though I said to myself to make one of my resolutions to shop less with makeup! It was purchased last month so I guess this one is not counted?? :p
Anyway, I have 4 lip products which I purchased from a local website. Two were the LA Splash lip couture and two were the LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss. As you can see each brand of the lippies I bought are quite similar to each other. I really don’t know why I did that. Lol. A waste of money though! xD
From Left to Right: The lippies are Cryptic, Ghoulish, Frisky and Secret.
All of the lippies I purchased dries to a matte finish. I did swatched everything on my lips and I must say Ghoulish washes me off. Cryptic on the other hand I can wear if I lined it with a lip liner to make if darker and mauve. Cryptic is a wee bit darker in shade than Ghoulish. It has a mauve tone to it unlike Ghoulish which appears gray on my lips.
Frisky and Secret are quite similar as well. Frisky is like a red with an orange tone to it while Secret is a darker red.
I did wear Secret at work and Cryptic at home just to test it out and it did lasted a couple of hours (4 hours the least to be exact) on my lips.
Here are my thought on the LA Splash and LA Girl Lippies:
LA SPLASH
- I can’t apply it without defining my lips with a lip pencil.
- Easy to apply
- Not as sticky as LA Girl when lips are pursed with each other
- Felt better on the lips unlike LA Girl
- Lines on lips are emphasized
- Doesn’t transfer on hand when I tried to kiss it.
- Does rub off when you eat. (Yesterday I ate a green mango and it did not completely rubbed off but some particles of the lipstick appeared on the fruit which I pretty much didn’t want to eat it. lol)
- Can’t tell if it’s kiss proof yet. Lol
- Looks like a cement when re-applied. lol
LA GIRL
- Easy to apply
- A bit sticky on the lips when pursed together
- Does transfer a bit of color on the glass when I tried to drink.
- Doesn’t transfer on hand when I tried to kiss it.
- Did rub some of the color off when I ate fried chicken with gravy. So I had to reapply it.
- Looks fine when re-applied.
- Lines on lips are emphasized.
All liquid lipsticks on my opinion are drying on the lips. Exfoliation and moisturizing the lips are key to make it less drying.
I guess that’s it with my first impression on both the brands. I have to wear both of them more to make a decision on which is better when i comes to feel and wear on the lips. For now I’ll go with the LA Splash one. (BTW, I forgot to wear lip balm when I wore Secret soo. yeah.I did wear a lip balm when I wore Cryptic. Might be confusing though. hehe)
