Is it worth it?: Careline Oil Control Liquid Makeup and Careline Pimple Concealer

A couple of days ago I saw this video reviewing these 2 products from Careline. Careline is a Philippine brand I believe. It started from nail polishes and emerged to cosmetics.

Careline Oil Control Liquid Makeup in Natural

First of all, the packaging is so cute! This retails for 90php at Watsons or at some department stores. I actually filmed a first impression on this one and the concealer as well.

The claims are:

  • Absorbs excess oil all throughout the day.
  • Contains vitamin E to keep skin moist.
  • Formulated with lightweight texture that glide onto the skin.

Disadvantages:

  • I don’t agree with the first one as I did get oily after almost 2 hours of wearing this. I had to blot and touch up to mattify my face again. (By the way my face is very oily so anything I apply will make me shiny after a couple of hours anyway.)
  • Sheer coverage. It didn’t cover anything on my face. I can still see the veins on my face as well as the pimple marks.
  • Doesn’t last long if applied without primer on my face. I don’t know about your skin since we have different skin types.
  • Dries fast so you might want to blend it immediately once you put it on your face. This dries to a powdery finish after application but as I said it only lasted for almost 2 hours before my face became oily again. This does have luminosity on your skin though it doesn’t feel sticky right after application.
  • The color of the packaging and the product itself are different. The product is much lighter than the packaging so you might as well not base it on the packaging when choosing the right shade. If you’re “morena” or a little bit tanned like me then you might as well go for the shade “Oriental” which has a yellow undertone and will match most fair-tan skin tone.
  • If you have an oily face like me then you might want to set it with a powder.
  • It has a makeup-py powdery scent. It’s not bothering for me though.

Advantages:

  • Affordable. It’s only 90 php which is very cheap for a liquid makeup/bb cream.
  • Very lightweight. Same as above. It can be both a disadvantage and an advantage depending on your preference. For me, this one is okay. You can probably wear this on your no makeup-makeup look. You don’t feel like you’re wearing anything.
  • Doesn’t have a flashback. It made my face whiter than it looks like when I took a flash photography but that is just because I bought the wrong shade. I bought Natural and I should have bought Oriental.
  • It has a cute packaging and it’s just small so you can put it on your makeup bag when you’re on the go.
  • Not cakey at all.
  • I had no problems with applying the bronzer, blush, and highlight.

This might be good for people who have dry skin as this has Vitamin E and claims to keep the skin moist which what happened to me. lol

I  bought the wrong shade. This one is in the shade “Natural” and it has a slightly grayish-pink undertone. I’m “morena” so I have a yellowish undertone.

Careline Pimple Concealer with Tea Tree Oil in the shade Oriental

I bought two shades (Oriental and Soft Bisque) at first because I don’t know which one would be better for my skin tone. The oriental shade has a yellow undertone while the Soft Bisque shade has a pink undertone and is very light for my skin tone.

Disadvantages:

  • It has no coverage at all. It didn’t cover any pimple marks. I also used this for my under eyes and it didn’t cover my eyebags as well.
  • It has that typical tea tree oil scent.
  • You have to dip it in for a couple of times to get a decent amount of concealer from the tube.
  • It only has 6 mL.

Advantages:

  • Affordable. This is only 95 php. But come to think of it if it’s this small and it’s priced that way then maybe it’s not worth the price.
  • Lightweight. You can carry it anywhere.

I don’t know yet if the tea tree oil is working as I only wore this once. I’ll update you if it’s any good for your pimples.

So, is it worth purchasing these two products? I’d say pass on the concealer as this doesn’t do much. I’d probably prefer to buy a Suesh cream concealer for 100php. It has better coverage than this one too. For the liquid makeup or bb cream I’d say it’s okay but my Maxipeel Concealing Cream is better. It’s much cheaper and has a  better coverage than this one. It’s still sheer but it’s better. :p

I hope you like this post and if you want to buy any product then you might as well search for reviews first, especially shade swatches, so you will not waste any money if it isn’t good at all. And if you want me to review any other products then feel free to comment it down below.

Thank you for reading!
